Kalinga Architecture
—> comes under the Nagara style.
temples have two parts, a tower and a hall.
The tower is called deula and the hall is called jagmohan. Jagmohan is an assembly hall, used for dancing too
The walls of both the deula and the jagmohan are lavishly sculpted with architectural motifs and a profusion of figures.
There are three distinct types of temples in Kalinga Architecture based on Deula
(1) Rekha Deula : It covers the garbhagriha & is associated with Vishnu, Surya and Shiva temples
(2) Khakhara Deula : It covers the garbhagriha & is found in female deities temples. It is similar to the Dravidian Gopuram.
(3) Pidha Deula is an upper structure of Jagmohan. Pidha Deula looks like pyramids of egypt.
