💡 1956-61

💡 Major objective: Rapid Industrialization with particular emphasis on development of basic and heavy industries. 

💡 Large industries including steel plants (Durgapur, Bhilai and Rourkela) were set up. The locomotive factory at Chittaranjan and Coach factory at Perambur were other major projects of this period.

💡 It was based on Mahalanobis Model. 

💡  It targeted a 25% increase in national income through rapid industrialisation. Actual achievement was only 20%. 

💡 Goal of establishing the socialistic pattern of society.
